In the 8km female race, Emma Schuette finished in the top ten overall and won by a handy margin over Jac Manison and local ultra-runner Ruth Bloom. In the male race, there was a ding-dong battle down the home straight. After bravely leading for much of the race Tyler Murphy was narrowly pipped on the line by fast-finishing Luca Scholes-Robertson. Liam Farrar rounded out the top three just over a minute behind.
Impressive whipper-snapper Madeleine Arvaji won the open female 4km race by over two minutes. Local runner Emily de Mather gave her maximum effort all the way to the finish to grab the silver. While Hannah Clarke had the bronze well in hand. The 4km male medal winners seemed to want to share the win as they all crossed the line together. Caden Murray, Blake Barnes and Flynn Connolly, all from Diamond Valley Athletics Club, took out the top three places.
The 2km Colour Runners couldn’t wait for the start. As soon as the CFA water started spraying they were off! Once order was restored the official start allowed runners to (again!) get a dowsing from the water cannon before heading off to the first of five colour squirt stations. It didn’t take too long before children and adults alike resembled all the colours in a gelati truck. The colour run event finished with a flourish back at the finish line with a colour explosion!
Congratulations to everyone who joined in the fun of the day. Thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors who helped make this school fundraiser such a success.
